"It had been a long time since I had been to The Ox and a friend and I decided to have our catch up here. The menu was reasonably extensive and fairly priced. My salad was delicious. The service was attentive and the wine list very reasonable with good choices. Would recommend it for friends or business casual lunch."

The Oxford Hotel is like an institution in North Adelaide. It's just one of those pubs that goes from strength to strength constantly reinventing itself. Arranging a catch up with a few friends we decided to go back to our old 90's stomping ground. I like to call it THE ONE. By that I mean it's the one that's survived decade to decade, the one that everybody has a story to tell, the one that's centrally located and easy to park, and the one I fell in love with, who goes by the name of Espresso Martini. Heard along the grapevine there was a new menu launched to coincide with the awesome RADELAIDE Festive vibe at the moment. Well, being European we love our food so not only were we catching up at our stomping ground, we were curious to see what was new this time round. I simply adore a place with a creative funky vibe about it. A place that makes the best espresso martinis ever - with a touch of chilli, like a new found love, it makes me want to go back for more! The way the menu is presented is keeping in with RADELAIDE's feel at the moment. How does Opening Night, Earthly Delights, and Encore tempt you? Here's a place that's really embraced everything South Australian, it's just adorable. You have to visit to appreciate and take in all the creativity that's not only gone into the food but also the decor - including a huge wall mural outside the entrance. Little cosy places you can get lost in and open spaces you can let go in. If you don't have time to eat, drop in and meet my love, Espresso Martini. He's to die for.

Don't go to the Oxford Hotel if you wish to have a quick meal either during the day or night. We were attended once for our meal order by a male staff member, who never came back to us. That's actually quite common as it has happened many times before so please don't blame breaks or other issues - its simply extremely poor service! Mostly you will be glared at and it seems I am not alone in this comment after reading previous reviews.Eventually one of us went to the front bar where a lady was serving trying to keep up with beer and wine orders and taking ordered meal requests. She was very apologetic when explained we waited 30 minutes already for service. Another 15 minutes and still no order taken. The other staff member was nowhere to be seen and there was only one other person serving meals for the tables. She appeared to be quite organized and keeping up with things but not taking orders... I suppose there is a system in place that is not multi tasked efficiently and yes falls over.Another 45 minutes passed still no meal. We then asked again what the hold up was and finally they came out. No complaints about the food, but we were all a bit over it by then and the enjoyment of the day had disappeared. We won't be back for a while until the service improves. It's not productive to go there if there are other commitments later in the day or evening which is very disappointing.

We were staying in North Adelaide to visit friends and dropped in to The Oxford for a drink. The food, service, wine list and atmosphere looked good so we came back a couple of nights later to experience the food. It was a cold and rainy night but the service was warm and welcoming, the food good quality pub food and delicious. The wine list was a surprise with plenty of local wines and also a range of Italian and Spanish at reasonable prices. It has been so long since we dined at a pub that I had forgotten how good it can be. Our experience at The Oxford definitely warrants another visit on our next trip.

This place has a fantastic 'pub' menu with a twist, Asian style offerings with plenty of vegetarian options. The food is always on point & the service with a smile, knowledgeable bar staff make wine selection & cocktail choices easy. Happy hour, quiet dinner or drinks with friends this place caters for all. Only down side is the menu often has items out of stock or unavailable.. hopefully this is improved with time!
