Asked lady behind the bar for a little wine. Without giving the choice, Lady served what looked like a medium, so my OH asked and she said, "We don't do small only medium or large." Nicer. Why not say when the customer asks.... Instead, she has lost our future custom to recharge us for something we did not ask. What made me laugh, was the glass had markings on it for all 3 wine measures would not have hurt to say: "Not usually do, but I can you xx Pence less than 175ml is that okay? I wanted 125ml so I could have a second 125ml in another pub. (Who would keep you under the legal limit if you decide to drive. This pub is proud to be a real Ale pub, so can understand that there is only a white or red wine on offer, but again it would have been nice to know what was currently open, we would have asked. Today there are no dark ales. Tables clean, nice atmosphere.
Pubs should understand their mission, and the Mason's Arms does that. It's good at beer. It has a great local following, some of which are enjoying the sport on the TVs, but everyone is into this place as a great community pub. It's not a...gasto pub. Outside its famous beer festival it doesn't do food at all. It does Beer. So much so it's known to brew its own beer good too but meanwhile it stocks an excellent range of beer, turning over quickly. Do make a visit check its opening hours first enjoy a beery pub.
Why aren't you ever open? Your pub has an excellent reputation large enough to reach me twice to go the three and a half miles from Oxford Station. But both times you were closed when I arrived! Today I thought... Saturday noon. it's...got to be open. But it wasn't all locked up. And it looked sooo inviting! Maybe one day...
Had not been here for a while, used to do great food, not cheap, but well now the vibe seems to have changed everything to very plover price. Maybe it's just for one reason, just my own thoughts.
