"Went to this quaint Indian restaurant tonight and was not disappointed. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The highlight though for us was the service we received. The girls who served us could not have been better - it started as soon as we walked in and was consistent and faultless until we left!"

My friends and I decided to go here before a fringe show, we made a booking, arrived on time and ordered pretty quickly. And things went bad straight away- first the wrong drinks came out, we had to ask for water 4 times and got attitude on the 4th (because she was getting it) then we ordered a banquet and after 10 minutes we were told some of the selections were unavailable so they simply swapped to stuff we were going to get in the mains anyways. We then waited another 45 minutes and still our entrees hadn't come out. We asked the woman what was happening and that we needed to leave soon. They then brought us someone else's food, took that away and then another 10minutes the food arrived. Now I could see some tables who had arrived before us and still hadn't got anything. The first thing we pick up is barely warm, the second thing is some squid and it's cold, it was once warm I think because the coating had gone funny. This was unacceptable, I'm not a complaining person I'll always give something a go and I'm not a picky reviewer but when your waiting an hour for entrees and they come out cold you don't want food poisoning. I got straight up and when to the bar to say we were leaving. Whilst there I heard them tell take away customers it would be 2 hours wait.... There were only 5 tables in the restaurant. In the end they charged us for our drinks and said "you know how it is sometimes in the kitchen, it happens" that's not an excuse EVER. I've never been more disappointed. Please don't even bother, you can get hot food at hungry jacks across the road!

Living close to Maharajah's makes it an easy place to both visit and to get takeaway from. For as long as it has been open we have frequented this place and have never found it to be anything but good. The food is excellent and the staff are always attentive. In fact, as far as good tasting Indian food is concerned it rates very highly with any I have had in other places throughout the world. As far as value for money goes it is good, with prices being reasonable.

I went here as part of a large group for a 40th. We had the banquet- the middle one.TONNES of great quality food with a great range. Wine list was ok however, a couple of the reds we would have drunk they were out of.Raul our waiter was excellent and was great entertainment.Worth heading out to- make a reservation. Was in this year's entertainment book.

Generous portions, but poor food and scruffy surroundings. Water served in a filthy bottle and cutlery smeared and greasy. No cards accepted, cash only, almost unheard of in this day and age.Give this place a miss unless you are desperate for a curry! Unfortunately it's the one and only Indian restaurant in Port Douglas.
