Schloßcafe Benrath

Schlosscafe Benrath used to be one of my favorite Cafe in Benrath area and I went there for breakfast and coffee several times with friends. But last Sunday's visit was the worst experience I have ever had and very disappointed about the staff and the...service. Cold, arrogant and unfriendly. As I ordered cake take away from this Cafe,I thought they have this service all the time. So last Sunday I went there and wanted to order some cakes for take away. I went to the front desk directly, at that time there was a staff who is responsible for coffee making, one waiter was waiting for place order, another waitress was walking around. I was there waiting for more than minutes, they noticed me but no one ask you whether you need any help, they just ignore you as air! A couple of minutes later, the waiter finally asked me what I want. I said I want to order some cakes for take away. Without any thinking, the staff who is responsible for making coffee said No!, the answer was so cold and no explanation at all. Then the waiter and the other waitress simply said that it's Sunday, they don't offer takeaway. But still, cold, arrogant and no smile. That coffee staff still keep saying No!. Okay, if you have this policy, you can explain to a customer in a proper manner and be friendly, right? Why come with this kind of bad attitude? Very disappointed about this Cafe. They don't care about customers and don't care about those frequentvisit customer at all. They don't know a good business is based on good service and care about every customer, reputation is based on word of mouth and loyal customers. For sure, I will never visit this Cafe again, and for sure I will not never recommend any friends about it

We had planned to have coffee and cake here one Saturday afternoon. Service was terrible. Staff never acknowledged our existence, so after about min I had to ask one of them whether we could order something. That they allowed graciously but it...took them another to bring us two coffees. When paying, they helped themselves to tips. We did not receive a bill but only something called an 'Infodruck'. A known practice for restaurants defrauding the tax services. Not sure whether that really was their plan or another sign of incompetence by the staff. When we went away we found out why we hadn't seen any staff for so long: they rather enjoyed smoking outside than helping customers. Do not go there, the service is atrocious

A little bit disappointed after they won't serve us anything on the terrace were we already were sitting and other persons too. It was raining but after it didn't rain anymore we left because they didn't want to sell us anything. When we left another...group of persons sat at our table, I wonder if they got their cakecoffee served. Even we went inside and wanted to take the things by ourselves outside, they just said NO. And when we came and sat outside, why didn't they tell us that they were not serving outside ? We waited for maybe mins. But we found another nice Café with delicious cakes

the garden is unchanged beautiful and an oasis! the interior after extensive renovation is now also very appealing. breakfast is strongly recommended (cafè is excellent)!. unfortunately only open until 20h - would be sooo nice to be able to eat there in the evening!Thanks for the nice service!

I really liked the salmon salad in the splendid terrasse, with the gardens and canals, ducks and womderful trees. Take a moment to relax in this wonderful castle, eat and drink calmly with time and enjoy a very reasonable meal or cafe
