This restaurant is worth a drive out of Paris! I eat out for a living so I am very discerning about what is a great restaurant.Make a reservation, hire a driver, then go! (open Sunday for lunch so you can visit the surrounding small towns with beautiful churches & parks) The service was professional as well as attentive. We enjoyed the "amuse-bouches" in between each of the courses which had rather plentiful servings of exquisite delicacies in a creative mix of flavors. The cuisine not only looks beautiful & colorful but also tastes so fresh. I was delighted over the use of various cheeses in most all the courses, some slightly evident for a touch of flavor, others more apparent. Overall an excellent experience! Bravo et à bientôt. I highly recommend this restaurant & will certainly go back for another experience.
We expected the restaurant to be good and it was outstanding. We stayed Saturday night and the choice was 5, 6 or 7 course tasting menu. Very accommodating about a requested swap for one dish. Food was excellent and we enjoyed the wine pairings. The surprise was the lovely room - in the opposite building the room was like a small apartment- very spacious bathroom with free standing bath and large separate shower, sitting area and bedroom. Modern and very comfortable. Nice outside space and no problem welcoming our two springer spaniels. Breakfast was served in our room and was generous and so delicious - breads, pastries, ham, cheese, smoked salmon, fruit and fromage blanc, home made jam and lovely local butter. The owners and staff were extremely welcoming and overall it was an excellent experience.
I have been back many times and I must admit it is unlike any place I have been to in France or as a matter of fact in the world bar The Three Chimneys on the Iles of Skye. The menu is always very interesting and the food is top notch. You can relax as you do not feel as if you have to whisper. The service is exceptionally good - attentive but not oppressive, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu (and this all in English).I am very much looking forward to my next visit.
What I loved the most about my experience here was the possibility of eating high-quality food (cooked by Chef Trochain) and experience great service for a reasonable price at the Bar á fromages. As a tourist, it was all in one for me. Visiting the beautiful village, being able to try more than 20 different sorts of french cheese, eating Michelin starred food and buying gifts at the restaurant's shop.
