I had such high hopes for Mitchell 's. The menu and decor were so Legal Seafood ish (one of our favorite restaurants in Boston, so that 's a very high compliment). Our waitress was exceptional. She brought out our soup (clam chowder very good) and bread (also very good), as well as our daughter 's noodles, very quickly which made us and our daughter happy since we were all starving! When our main course arrived (after a bit longer of a wait than I expected), my husband 's food was luke warm. Our wonderful waitress took it back, had his dinner re prepared, and took his entree off of our bill. Like I said excellent service. Unfortunately, the food didn 't measure up to the service or atmosphere. I had the Shang Hai Seafood Sampler (a salmon, scallop and shrimp combo on spinach and sticky rice). And while my salmon was fair, the shrimp and scallops were rather bland. Perhaps they were relying on the way to overpowering soy ginger sauce in the bottom of the bowl. My husband 's fish (cod), even re prepared, was chewy. He swears that, although menu claimed it to be fresh, the texture screamed I 've been frozen! The prices were high (around $20 per dinner) especially since the food wasn 't very good. All in all, the service and atmosphere would bring me back, just to see if we hit them on an off night. But I think next time, we 'll try them for lunch.

I love going to Mitchell's....it is a pleasant experience. But, they have a couple of waiters that really ruin the evening for you...they have some great ones also. We went the other night and he did not say one word except to take the order...and did not comment on that at all. We kind of joked with him and he glared at us as if we were from Mars. The waiter can ruin the evening for you...and this one did. He is a regular there and I don’t know why they keep him. You might as well stay home...or get carry-out if you have him. Dinner was not a pleasant experience. In that case...you feel like NOT tipping at all.

What a wonderful date night we had a Mitchell's! As always the grilled oysters in their delicious garlic butter sauce drizzled with melted parmesean cheese and toasted sourdough was the perfect start to our meal. The market Trio with a Maryland crab cake, seasoned salmon, and skewer of jumbo grilled shrimp was simply sumptuous! The Trio included their corn relish, redskin smashed potatoes, and asparagus as accompaniments to the seafood and was very satisfying. Couple all that with artfully crafted cocktails and an attentive server and you will have a similar experience like we did!

We had dinner at Mitchells. Everything we ordered from the gumbo to the entrees were wonderful. There were three of us and we all had something different. One had pecan crusted trout and it was very good. One had salmon and he said it was wonderful. I had the shrimp and scallops in a wonderful sauce and it was the best. Our waiter, Andy, was very efficient and helpful. Overall, it was a wonderfully pleasant experience. We look forward to a return visit. We come to Louisville every year for 10 days and love it.
