On my way to the Gotthard tunnel I stopped for lunch in the picturesque village of Flüelen, located at the very end of the Vierwaldstättersee Lake. Thanks to the positive reviews here I opted for Cantina Apertura, which proved a very good choice - good food and relaxed atmosphere. The lovely terrace is the main asset of this restaurant, boasting stunning views (wow!) over the lake and surrounding mountains.Thumbs-up to Carmen for her friendly and energetic service. The menu is short and puts focus on homemade dishes. As main course the pan-fried trout fillets were tasty and served with a generous portion of vegetables. As dessert I chose the panna cotta - light and refreshing.Do not come here if you look for haute cuisine. But for a good and simple lunch at reasonable (Swiss) prices, Cantina Apertura is a sensible choice. The bill for my two-course lunch with soft drink and coffee amounted to CHF52.
