Thetford Garden Centre

Third time here third time issies, but this one takes the biscuit. We simply wanted scrambled eggs and not pouched or fried with our breakfast. Simple right? Well not according to the head chef james who instructed his team not to allow such a simple request to take place. This would almost be fine if they didnt have it as an option at all but we could order it as a side, we could order it on toast. So paying an extra would be absolutely fine. The duty manager of the garden centre seemed terrified to go against heir james orders, orders which must be followed at all times. His poor planning in being unable to staff a restaurant on a Sunday! properly is not our issue. And what terrible customer service for such a simple fix. No common sense, no customer service. James needs to go immediately, clearly not up to the task.

Wanted to give a 5 star review as the food was very good (my jacket potato wasn't very hot, but they replaced it with another quickly so that's fair enough) sadly the severe lack of waiting staff to cope with the number of tables meant that we waited 35 minutes for our hot drinks. In fact we had finished our mains before the drinks arrived. And we weren't the only ones. We then had another wait of about 15 minutes for a piece of cake. I was tempted to get up and serve myself!! After waiting 30 minutes to even get a table, this service just isn't good enough. The waiting staff are lovely and very apologetic, but the management need to realise that this is January, and if the service is this slow now, what's it going to be like in the summer!!!

Food is average , quite pricey for what it is £4.99 for a small pot of guacamole for example). But the overriding factor is the absolutely woefully slow service. This was our second visit previous one about a year ago and we had a similar experience then). Your food comes out before your drinks, we observed many other experiencing this and lots of people complaining. Our order took 45 minutes for the food and 50 minutes for the drinks. Coffee and tea are nice and serving staff are lovely and polite but don't go here if you want a quick one... take a book if you do visit here!!

The food and ambience was good, as it has been on previous visits, but it was very disappointing to be sat near a staff member who was very clearly unwell and coughing their lungs up, so badly they were unable to cover their mouth whilst doing so. I realise that most places have moved on from Covid (despite it not having gone anywhere) but even if not bothered about spreading Covid, there are plenty of other viruses spread in this way. Not what you’d expect in a food establishment but maybe the staff member didn’t feel able to call in sick.

Overrated, overpriced, extremely slow service. Chips were inedible and staff not helpful when I complained.
