Restaurant zum alten Schützenhaus

We have been going to the Schützenhaus with the children about once a month for years. The food is always freshly prepared Homemade croquettes, super tasty. There is always a wide variety of vegetables that are no longer available in restaurants very often. Lamb fillet is highly recommended, and the Cordon Bleu fitness plate is also a hit with us. We will definitely remain loyal to you.

My husband grew up in Shaffhausen and this restaurant has been a family favorite for decades. It's a short, somewhat strenuous walk up the hill from the train station. The informal patio is quiet and comfortable and we enjoy the hospitality. The food is traditional Swiss. My husband enjoys the rahmschnitzel and I usually have the fitness teller or the eiglifilet (perch) if available.

There is a seasonal menu, and it the fresh ingredients are apparent in all the foods served. Typical swiss fare (schnitzel, hunter's stew, etc.) The building itself is interesting - it has been around awhile, but kept in good shape. Service is good, prices are Swiss (a couple with a bottle of wine can expect to spend 100 CHF.)

This one is away from the center of town, but the food is very good and the price is right. This is a family owned/operated restayrat, Outdoors in summer is nice.
