Walking the Camino Primitivo this summer, we spent a night in Melide. Since vegetarianism seems to be deemed a diagnosis Galicia, I had been livng on Spanish tortilla for days. Very good, but a bit boring 3 times a day. Needless to say, I was craving for vegetarian pizza. I was full of expectations when I found Atenas, and my pizza dream was about to come true! After a veeery long wait we had to go in and ask for menus, though the waiter/owner? had seen us at the table outside. I found my vegetarian pizza, and asked the waiter kindly if it was possible to add a bit of onion. I was informed that that was not possible, and that if I wanted onion I would have to chose another pizza. I explained that I was vegetarian, and that I could not eat the other pizza, because it was with meat. He stuck to his decision and told me that onion was out of the question on that pizza. Ok..... pleasing the customers was obiously not his priority. It's not that I was asking for the moon. In all fairness, it has to be said that the guy made good pizzas (without onion), but maybe he should stick to what he knows best, and let someone else deal with customers.
