Good Jewish-style Deli, but too pricey.... I was down in San Diego on business and one of the restaurants listed on a list I got from my hotel 's front desk was Milton 's. Same family that makes the bread, I thought how bad could it be. The restaurant itself is kinda, sorta upscale looking from the outside. Once you walk in, you see the deli and bakery in front of you. I didn 't spend much time there but it looked appealing. I was sat right away Just one? ... why do they ask it that way? . I ordered a Stella to drink and an overstuffed hot pastrami sandwich w/potato salad. The food came promptly. The sandwich was two halves of a sandwich with about 3.5 oz of thinly-sliced pastrami stuffed between the quarter pieces of bread. Now the quality of the meat was very good, though they didn 't offer the Beaver brand of Deli Mustard, only French 's Yellow, Gulden 's or Beaver Cranberry ?? . . I thought the potato salad was one of the better ones I 've tasted. So everything was good. The food, the service BUT.. the sandwich was $15. This isn 't Carnegie 's or The Stage in NYC. Also, they should offer the Matzo Ball Soup by the cup. Having to order a $8/9 bowl isn 't a great option as it would have been too much to eat plus I would 've had a $30 bill for a sandwich, soup and a beer. Still I doubt there 's another quality Jewish-style deli in San Diego so I would say that if money is secondary to you, then go.
