J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks Seafood Mclean

After dining in two other locations recently, I can say this location in Virginia is a disappointing and costly experience Our server had an affable personality and tried, but the food arrived cool . There were long lapses between courses ;dirty plates uncleared even at and still there stacked up during dessert ; and only one water glass was refilled and that was after dessert and only after several requests Although rapidly rising prices on beef and seafood have put surcharges on these items at several high end restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised not to see them here. However in some cases the size of the items have shrunk. I would , personally, would rather pay the surcharge. Comparing photos of the same orders here and at two different mid west locations shows quite a contrast There is a lot of similar restaurants in the WashingtonDC area and I think in the future I will opt for one of them

I've always had an excellent experience at J. Gilbert's, but last night seemed very rushed. They were fairly crowded for a Tuesday night and the service did not seem up to the normal standard. We will be back. I'll just assume this was a one-off event

J. Gilberts is a consistently reliable option, where the ambience, food and service are always solid. It is a great venue for business lunches, family gatherings and so forth

We have made J. Gilbert's one of our special occasion restaurants.simply because we always have a good meal, with friendly service..in a comfortable and classy atmosphere

Mostly steaks on menu but my seared scallops were well prepared. Very good service
