excellent pub serves delicious, hearty classic British dishes. if only more pubs it kept easy and honestly eat good as made here! After reading the reviews we visited here for dinner and it was not disappointed. the family running the pub was very welcoming. the menu was great, they took our two years old with something in a smaller part, so he also enjoyed a high quality meal. we had two torts and the ham and chips, as well as roulade and brot and butter pudding. all very tasty and decent portions. unbelievably cheap too. well worth eating here, they will not be disappointed.
update april 2022 now sadly closed. hang down the best Sunday roast I've had for a long time. I went for the pig that was so juicy and all circumcisions were perfectly cooked. a friend had bark meat and another the torte that looked amazing. added comes the super friendly service, inviting team and little extra touches like the question whether we extra gravy (an entire boot came out that made my day! and its recipe for perfection in my book. wonderful!
My wife and I moved to the village in August 2016 and this pub became our local. It's family run and you're made to feel very welcome. The food is excellent; homemade and very fresh. Steak night (Thursday) delivers superb quality food at very sensible prices, as does pie night on Tuesdays. It has a lovely garden and the selection and quality of beers is superb. Definitely worth a visit.
Okay, maybe it seems a bit confused because these types are family. but this pub is really a real gem. very friendly and welcoming, fantastic home cooked eating (can I recommend the steak and kidney cakes! and the young are incredibly passionate about good service and good beer. excellent adnams broadside and ghost ship. very busy for eating busy times so book before!
