This place was literally steps from our hotel, and yet we walked past it several times before I read about it on trip advisor. An adorable hole in the wall, with absolutely no indication of what lay within, able to seat not much more people. There is nothing typical about this place. On one hand, they incorporate a lot of typical Spanish flavors and ingredients in their dishes, but on the other hand their combinations and presentation are incredibly innovative. We started with the duck fois, served with toasted bread, blueberry compote and caramelized apple. Perfect flavor combination. After that, we had the lamb skewers. Incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. They were served on top of bread, and accompanied by french fries. We ignored the bread and nibbled on the perfectly cooked fries. Then we had the Iberian pork and roasted padron peppers and the cheese toast, which was a simple yet complex melange of blue, manchego, emmenthal and goat cheese on a long piece of bread, run under a broiler and topped with more of those caramelized apples. Every bite of this meal was heaven, and with a bottle of house wine, the tab was Are you kidding me? In the States this place would be both expensive and pretentious. Here, it's just what they do. If you make your way to Torrox, you're more than a typical tourist, so treat yourself to more than a typical meal!
