Chateau De Haute-serre

This has proved to be a really good addition to the local restaurant scene. The location is lovely take a walk out to the viewpoint facing the restaurant at some time during your visit. The food and ambiance are equally good. This is a modern restaurant, in terms of its décor and its food. Whether eating inside, or out, tables are well spaced and of a reasonable size, chairs are comfortable and the shingle surface outside well enough compacted not to feel like you are sinking in. The cooking style is modern and the food is well cooked and well presented. Choice is limited, but the menus well designed to cope with most tastes. The staff are pleasant and efficient and are alive to the need to deal with both dietary preferences and allergies. Portion size is sensible. The wine list favours the owner's wines (from Haute Serre and elsewhere) and many are available by the glass. All in all a splendid place for lunch or dinner.

On our way from Sarlat to Toulouse on a Sunday and interested in Cahors wines and good food, we found the Chateau de Haute-Serre. After several GPS dead-ends, we finally found the beautiful Chateau and restaurant on the hilltop at 1300 where the signs on the door said it should be open and the web site still saying it was open. The dog was barking and cars were parked behind Private signs but everything was closed and no one came. Beware! The website is wrong! Call ahead or just seek a friendlier, smaller vintner down the road.

We visited for dinner and were blown away by the menu excellent food, particularly for the price. The setting is gorgeous and the building is charming. They were able to cater, with a couple of days notice, for a Vegan in our party, and their food was outstanding too. The staff are super helpful and even provided a warm welcome for our family dog. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough well worth a trip!

We went here for a special occasion as a family and it did not disappoint. The service was brilliant- very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! It was the best veel I have ever tasted, and all in a beautiful location with a lovely atmosphere. Rural french dining at its finest.

We had an amazing tour of the vineyard today, our guides English was amazing and the whole experience was very interesting and the wine was lovely. We will definitely be back for the family event in the summer!
