Yui - Table reservation

Here 's what I love about Yui... I love the sushi! The rice is warm, the fish is fresh and everything tastes great. I love the chicken karaage lunch special. A bunch of perfectly fried chunks of chicken with soup, salad and rice for 12 bucks. Easily the best lunch deal in Sierra Madre. I love the kushiyaki! They don 't specialize in meat on sticks , but if you only got these skewers, you would be convinced it was all they did all day. The chicken wing skewer I got was expertly grilled and stands up to any yakitori place in LA. I love the Yui instagram! Enticing images of various seafoods, mixed with fish status updates, short anecdotes about the chef 's life, and the occasional dig at other less skilled sushi chefs. Always puts a smile on my face. I love the Orion draft beer! I love the simple and refined interiors. I love that I can walk there. I love everyone that works there. They don 't know it, but I love them! And that 's what I love about Yui!

I was in a night at 7:15. Not many people go in the area. Parking is available. It was cool inside, so I asked to sit outside. There were no customers inside and 2 pairs sitting on 2 of 3 tables outside. The manager/can be owner (unsafe, man who tells an outside customer that his wife had a baby), didn't let me sit outside. He wanted to save the table from four outside for potential customers who could come. It wasn't reserved. He wanted me to sit inside, but didn't want to sit a possible group of four inside (yes, there was a table for four inside). Oh, I mentioned I'm female. I sat out anyway and the waiting staff tried to hurry. The food was good. But this guy is probably a madogynist and really doesn't know good customer service. I hope you're not going to the restaurant alone..if so, think differently.

Excellent selection and quality! Small spot, best to go on a weekday. Really enjoyed this place. Prices are on the higher side, but quality was top notch and they have some interesting/unique options. Demerit recommend! Stay Cheerful
