I turned up at the Wirtshaus at on a Friday evening with my wife and daughter, with no reservation. The place was buzzing and busy but we were found a table near the bar and given menus straight away. My response to the question...about drinks made it clear my German was limited and the friendly waitress immediately came back with a copy of the menu in English. Food and drink prices seemed very reasonable with a good range of both. We ordered our drinks and they came with the accompaniment of bread and sour cream spread? The watchful waitress, checked pretty much the instant my glass was empty if I needed a refill and this continued through our stay. Our food when it came was in generous portions and very tasty and the restaurant remained busy throughout our stay, clearly popular with locals as although we had only been in the town days we saw people from local businesses there who we recognised. Though the restaurant was busy, the staff remained friendly and cheerful and added to the friendly atmosphere of this popular institution,we would love to go back
The food is out standing and the service great. However a negative point is as in many German restaurants people can bring their dogs with them to dinner, one time we walked out as the huge dog was in the place we where offered a...table. This can ruin your appetite. We had another dinner and where lucky no dogs in sight. Again the food and service was perfect
Food was divine, ambience was charming and homely, service was impeccable. It's wise to book in advance if going there on a weekend since they're always fully booked! We're going back there tomorrow for dinner, yipeee!
