Weißer Holunder

We chanced on this great locals bar as we were bimbling around the less touristic areas of Cologne and what a great little find. This is a cool bar ,a really nice neat and tidy interior with great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating...options spread throughout this bar,there's TV screens to enjoy the sport and the Gaffel Kölsch served here is delicious. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Wednesday evening,we got a seat were a very pleasant member of staff deposited two glasses of Gaffel Kölsch on our table,we just kicked back and chilled out and took in the wonderful bar we were in. These are the type of bars that bring me back to Cologne year after year,cool bar,great staff and delicious beer,what more could you ask for. We really enjoyed our beers in here so much so that we stayed for one more before moving on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with the great bar. Weisser Holunder is really easy to locate by jumping tram to stop Köln West were you walk down Venloer Wall and cut right onto Gladbacherstraße were you will find this bar. Opening hours are; Monday to till Friday till till A great bar and well worth checking out

Wenn man über eine kleine Stufe das "Weißer Holunder" betritt, befindet man sich unvermittelt im Jahre 1955. Die leicht vergilbten Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos an den Wänden zeugen von einer Zeit als die Mädchen noch Zöpfe und Schürzen trugen, die Jungs Lederhosenträger und die Erwachsenen Overstolz, Juno und Eckstein rauchten. Irgendwie ist das Rad der Zeit hier stehengeblieben. Die Damen hinter dem Tresen sindf allerdings taufrisch, nett und aufmerksam und informieren uns noch über ein paar Besonderheiten, die diese Kneipe zu bieten hat.Trotz Besitzerwechsel im Novenber 2013 bleibt alles beim Alten. Nach Karneval gibt es wieder Kleinkunst und Mitsingabende. Die urige Musikbox funktioniert nach 55 Jahren immer noch und gelegentlich läuft auch "Weißer Holunder" von Gitta Lind.Wir trinken je zwei gut gekühlte frische Gaffel-Kölsch und beschließen wiederzukommen.In dieser Kultkneipe gibt es übrigens auch Würzburger Pils (wie im Wein- und Bierhaus Vogel und in der Restauration Wirtz auf der Neusser Straße).Außer der legendären Musicbox, einem Klavier, der musealen Einrichtung ziert das Kultlokal noch ein Pool-Billardtisch.

great place with a great, cozy atmosphere and very nice people. the diverse events deserve a special note. Skat night, small concerts, quiz night, in the evening they sing it. and in addition, the beer is great, especially the Wurzburger served in stone cups cold until the last zip! I have the 2nd living room feeling.

warm place with deco as it was back in close to city centre. beer and few german snacks. scheduled live music events, check web page. place I would take a friend for a chat and a good beer

Urgemütliche Kneipe, wunderschön das sonntägliche gemeinsame Singen ab 20:00 Uhr. Muss man erlebt haben!!
