My family and I had eaten twice at Schloss Hotel Restaurant and had good service and good food... No major complaints. Then came the group experience... We reserved the outdoor area for a group of about 30 and even in our desired order they asked, we all eat the same meal for their convenience when cooking for such a big party... fine . The person who made the reservation spoke to the manager on three occasions, once personally when placed in the order and confirmed the number of guests. When we came to the restaurant the night, it looked like we had been completely forgotten. We sat INSIDE, the weather was cloudy, but still no rain and still nice enough that others were outside and we sat at different tables, some far from the others, so it was as if we were not together at all. When we expressed our dissatisfaction about the situation, were we met with rude answers, accusations and no help at all? I asked why we didn't sit outside when we had reserved the outside area, and it was said that it wasn't too cold. Finally, I told the manager that we were going outside. Once outside, it got worse... The party was only saved by big company and lots of fun and laugh among us all. Some of the employees were very nice and some were the worst I experienced in Europe, which insults us and in German, without recognizing that some of us were German and understood every word. We had to wait almost two hours for our meal, and we later found out from one of the employees that the manager forget to put our reservation in the calendar, so why they tried to blame us beats me . One of the waitresses was the most annoying and rude women I met in my life and she tried to pay us for a meal that no one had ordered, served or eaten. I recently found out from others in this area that they had similar group experiences in this restaurant... Terrible management, no preparation, bad service and a habit of sticking guests with meals they do not order or eat. The area is beautiful and the hotel is beautiful, but... Never again.

My family and I had just visited Nanstein castle. We noticed there was a hotel/resturant within walking distance from the castle. As we approched the entrance we noticed there were tables outside with people sipping wine. Once inside, several people were dining and enjoying conversation. There was a very nice salad bar, however it was not your typical american salad bar. It did included romain lettuce, carrott shavings, olives, peppers, cucumbers, diced mushroom, and sweet sundried dates. The dressings included: french, italian, american and a very unique but very good yogart dressing that complemented the vegetables. My wife and I both ordered the yeager schnitzel, which is two thin, breaded pork cutlets that are fried then covered with a thick mushroom gravy including sautaued mushrooms. The schnitzel was complemented with a basket of french fries perfect for dipping in the sauce. This is the best yeager schnitzel I have ever had. The service and wait staff was very good. The price was ok. The lunch was 9.50 eruos, however each coke was 3.20 euros. The total bill was 30.60 euros. However, there was not a spot for a tip. The menu was even in inturpreted into english. The only draw back to our experience is that the menu was limited to only a few dishes. All in all, it was a nice stop for lunch with a great atmosphere, awesome food, and good service, after seeing a beautiful castle.

There was a very nice salad bar, but it wasn't your typical American salad bar. It included romain salad, carrot razors, olives, paprika, cucumbers, fenced mushroom, and sweet sun-dried data. The dressings include: French, Italian, American and a very unique but very good yogart dressing that complements the vegetables. My wife and I both ordered the carpenter Schinitzel, which are two thin, baked pig carvings that are fried, then covered with a thick mushroom carving including sautaued mushrooms. The scavenger was complemented with a basket of french french fries, perfect for immersion in the sauce. That's the best scavenger I ever had. The service and waiting staff were very good. The price was okay. Lunch was 9,50 Eruos, but every coke was 3,20 euros. The accounts were EUR 30.60. There was no room for a tip. The menu was even inturpreted in English.
