I'm not really sure if I will call this place a Café or a Restaurant... Their name is Weinhaus Beck and Weinhaus means House of Wine. Yes, this is really a House of Wine... As soon as you get in the place, wines will be welcoming you in all direction. We came here to have breakfast. On each table, there's already a basket of different breads and a plate of colored hard boiled eggs. When we asked for a plate of cheese, the owner told us that we can go out and buy cheese at the market, bring it over and they will give us plates and knives... I think that is really cool... going to a restaurant and bringing your own food... I saw in other tables they have marmalades and some other stuff that they brought, too. Most of the customers are old, friendly Germans. It definitely is a place to be with the locals.Before we left, our friends picked several bottles. The owner told our friend that the one that she chose is very expensive and is not worth the price. He then recommended 2 bottles of wine that is much better in taste and in price... That's the kind of salesman we want - honest! We will definitely be coming back to this place!
Having spent a weekend in Tuebingen one of the most important things is to rest your feet the town has a lot of steep streets and passages. Weinhaus Beck is a perfect wine room or weinstube as you call them in German....On a warm day there is seating on the square but the room offers the cozy atmosphere of a local place. The waiters know their wine and able to make a sound recommendation. Highly recommended for a short break or a lazy afternoon with a paper or a book
My hubby and I came across this lovely little wine bar whilst on a night stay in Tubingen and we were so pleased we did! The interior is lovely with a part bar part wine shop style, the staff are super friendly and...welcoming and we tried some really lovely local wines recommended by them. There was a lovely mix of locals and tourists and we came back times during our stay as we loved the atmosphere and people so much. Do not miss this place if you are in Tubingen
