Vida Byob - Table reservation

Very Disappointing Experience! Made Reservations for 7:30 PM on Saturday 8/15 online. Received a call to confirm later in the day. My date I arrived at 7:30 PM. Someone came out and asked if we had a reservation. I said Yes, 7:30PM for Mike. He pointed at the table behind me and said there you go. One other table was occupied with a party of 6. We watched the waitress deliver their meals. She went back inside. No I will be right with you, not even eye contact. Mind you the guy who told us where our table was at didn't bring us menus or water. A 1/2 hour had passed just me and my dining companion talking. She could see I would not make the night better so she went inside to ask for menus. They guy who told us where to sit said we couldn't have been there a 1/2 hour. My date was like ummm yea we have. Finally a waitress and menus. She asked how we were I responded HUNGRY. I would of left but it's hard to get a table in a pandemic on short notice. Apparently not here though, as no one else came to visit the restaurant on a Saturday night except 1 other couple. The restaurant down the street was full, tables were packed. Guess their wait staff knows how to communicate and serve. I am trying not to be harsh especially after a lot or restaurants were closed for so long. I work in the Food industry so it's hard to not be biased. I will say i did enjoy the ambiance from the music on Brookline Blvd as were waiting. Ordered 4 tacos (2 Chicken 2 Short Rib for myself and my date also ordered 2 Chicken tacos. The waitress was very accommodating on the request for Corn Tortillas as my date is a Celiac and could not eat Gluten. She asked also if she could fire the order right away. We agreed yes. The meal was out very quickly. The flavor was there but the chicken and the short ribs tacos were cold. The waitress asked if we would like small plates, I said yes and some silverware and napkins too. I'm sure it's like Chipotle and everything is sitting in a steam table ready to be made into a taco. At this point I was done. We finished, paid the check and left. I had heard such great things about this place and was highly disappointed. the reviews were excellent. The tacos have won awards and I see why, because they tasted great. I hate to post such a bad review in these difficult times. But this is a business and if my business failed like this I would want to know. Especially when people are spending their hard earned money for a night out. Now maybe I know why they were not busy on a Saturday night.

I go with my wife to this lovely place many times a year! This is my favorite restaurant to to have a good dinner. I visit this place many times. The food is fantastic, the team is courteous and the price is reasonable. I like meeting in this spot to have a decent supper.

Fantastic food (our faves are the chimichangas, ahi tuna bowl and the filet). Delicious and versatile mixers if you bring tequila/rum/vodka.

Is this place open for business? Everytime I go to the Kettle next door there are construction workers doing something inside.

Great food, and amazing staff. Love the cozy atmosphere. A true gem!
