I think that first of all we had too high expectations, because the restaurant is ranked number ONE on TripAdvisor... above a total of 587 restaurants in Karlsruhe ! I think that minding this we were authorized to have some high expectations !Saturday evening : we discovered this crowded tiny place and were accepted without booking (for 2). Well we can say that the ambient noise was creating a kind of atmosphere which was not totally unpleasant although I did often prefer keep my thoughts in my mind instead of fighting to be understand telling them sort of loudly to my girlfriend.The menu offers an interesting choice of meals and the service was good, efficient. And now, what about the meals ? We had some vegetables served with slices of bread : can't notice anything special... about the bread, even the baguette I did eat in the morning at the breakfast buffet of my hotel was better. The vegetables ? Come on, everybody can do the same with standard supermarket products and without any cooking talent ! Unfortunately I can say the exact same thing about the pimentos ( bitter) and the patatas we did choose ! What the he... was special about the patatas ? A little quantity of fried potatoes served with 3 different sauces... again : can't notice anything special. Desesperatingly normal, absolutely without anything special. I did not notice any talent.Minding the quality I can even say it's very expansive. When I went out of the restaurant I was thinking about the money. I'm tired to pay for such things. 2 drinks (no wine but cola and juice) vegetables, potatoes, pimentos : almost 30€... How this restaurant can be ranked number one ? 586 other ones behind this one ? No way.Perhaps we did make the worst choice of meals, perhaps we were unlucky... I don't know.I am highly disappointed. The same for my girlfriend, who is also wondering what is so great about this place. She was recently in Barcelona and can't understand how some customers can write that it's here better than in Spain... come on ...But as I said : perhaps we were unlucky and need to give it a second try... (even if I do doubt we were unlucky)
Hello friends, yesterday I had the pleasure to visit this local again. great! I lived 5.5 years in andalucía and I can say quite honestly - eating is 100% like in a very good tapasbar in Spain. pure pleasure. ... wonderful patatas 3 salsas, dátiles con bacon, sharp gambas and much more. the personal is very friendly, cares for one and despite that it is always full, stay loose and without hectic. the owner is also there and always asks if everything is recommended. tipp: it is best to book a table. thank you and see you soon!
Since I found this bar, I feel like home there. I can not avoid going past every week during the evening to drink a refreshing glass sangria and enjoy a delicious milky. the "crema de limon" is bomb! sometimes I get even sangria for home:)
