Went here as a couple and was looking for a pub that served better than your usual deep fried food. Woolpack certainly met the brief. The mixed grill was huge, quality meat. Husband did not think he would be able to eat it all. Only minor negative, steak was served medium to well done. When order was taken not asked how he wanted it. I had the hot stone steak which was good. Again minor negative is the whole steak was served already cooking on the stone. I’m used to meat being on the side and then you cook using the stone that way it is how you want it. Because it was already on the stone, by the end you were eating well done steak (no plate to put on to stop it cooking). Variety of desserts including old school style kept in a hot cabinet. Have friends visiting in June so hope to visit again. The locals were friendly and we were made to feel welcome. Saw they had a fair sized beer garden.

I left a complimentary review for the food at this Pub in March, having recently returned I can only say the portion size and quality have declined and prices have gone up. They seem to be pursuing the idea of a Gastro pub and in doing so have lost their way. £16.95 for a Ploughmans that consisted of a couple of pieces of Ham and 3 x 5mm slices of cheese, plus some salad that was past its best, VERY poor value. Hunters Chicken which last time was great , now served on a small wood/slate platter that I consider unhygienic. Drinks are expensive at over £5 a pint. Great shame, they have gone from 5* to 2* and we wont be going back.!

My wife and I were staying in a local campsite in our motorhome and the owner recommended the woolpack. We had a fantastic meal, the food was delicious and good value for money, the staff were so friendly. The landlady was very polite and made us feel so welcome. We have a 7.5m motorhome and although it took up more than 1 bay the landlady was ok for us to park there. I will definitely be back for another meal as it was so nice.

Appreciate it was a busy Sunday but service was very slow. Yorkshire puddings were dry and tough. Broccoli was still partly frozen. Meat was dry. Shortage of gravy and apple sauce. Staff were not attentive at all. A real shame because it had been recommended to us.
