"Warmly greeted by bar staff and a bearded gentleman in the bar . We were only staying for a quick drink but the snug area could have kept us all night . Well worth a visit even if a little off the beaten track."

FINALLY A PUB THATS FOOD IS AS GORGEOUS AS ITS GARDEN! We decided to eat in the “Garden Room” which offered a fine dining menu and we were not disappointed! The food was stunning, the flavours and high quality ingredients put together by the chef were an absolute vibe. I ordered the sirloin and my friend had the duck. I honestly couldn’t decide which one was better. We were also treated with a few “taster” treat plates in between our courses complimentary of the chef and wow

Having been married for 55 years we decided to have lunch here. The food was good but our enjoyment of the visit was spoilt by a guest on the next table who carried his dog to his table and sat with it on his lap whilst eating his food. As someone who has a number of allergies including dogs, we did not stay for dessert as we would have done, but ate our main course and left. Not the celebration we had envisidged. Disappointing.

Whitebait very salty and limp and repeated on me for hours afterwards. No attempt made to give me an alternative dish. Confit of duck with red cabbage arrived looking like an upside down toffee apple and the shredded meat inside tasted exactly the same as the short rib anchovy fritter starter for my friend. Waitress not interested in our disappointment . We won’t be back. Really poor for the price.

Visited with friends for midweek lunch whilst on holiday in Dorset. Lovely village location, with a warm greeting. A little bit pricey but the food and service was great. Would definitely visit again if in the area.
