"Nice beer and friendly bar staff. But small but there is more seating upstairs. I do like pubs that aren't part of a chain and retain their own personality."

Very old (ca 1710, allegedly), traditional pub; a very small ground floor bar, exterior seats and a lounge upstairs. Very friendly staff and locals (some of them somewhat too sharp on a Saturday afternoon to visit) and a cozy environment. The name of the pub refers to Queen Charlotte, the wife of “mad” King George III. Apparently, she rented a small cellar under the pub, where she kept some of the king's favorite delicacies while being treated for his disease nearby. A good selection of well kept Ales (I had Timothy Taylor Landlord) and also a decent Gin selection. Very recommended.

What a fantastic little pub, full of character and I think it's been since the 1700's, which is quite amazing when you imagine how many people have been through their doors! There is a very friendly atmosphere within, through the bar staff and the many decorative pieces that stroke the place, no end to its charm.

It's a nice pub, like a little place. Great friendly staff, brilliant food, beautiful surroundings. Also outdoors and upstairs. Very recommended. Thank you for your continued friendly welcome.

Nice staff, working hard. Could be better if more 'no smoking ' areas are put in place near doors open to inside the pub. Not much non alcoholic drink (beer, gin etc) alternatives.
