"What a fabulous Sunday lunchtime I spent at the Hand and Heart last weekend. It was so great to experience such a lovely, bustling, warm and cosy venue with such amazing food. I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff are wonderful and work so hard. They sometimes sell out of food on a Sunday as it’s so popular, so if you’d like to experience this venue then I would recommend that you book early. Lovely selection of ales and whiskies as well. Enjoy!"

We usually love this place but had a really rubbish experience Sunday and to be honest, have experienced staff rudeness there before. We went during a busy lunch service to see if we could wait for a table. We know it's a popular place and...have never had trouble before. The young lad said they were full but we might be able eat in the bar where there were spaces and the ask the manager, so we waited. A lady (I assume was the manager) came over and asked if we were being served as though we'd wronged her familyto start and when we sort've dithered a bit as we'rent sure if the lad was going to take over she got very impatient. We asked for a table and she just said no we're full Blunt as shovel. it was like she was upset we'd dared even ask. There were empty tables all through the bar. So i said, all day? because we're happy to wait She was fuming at this, evidently and snapped we're full I actually felt quite upset by the exchange. We're not perhaps your usual middle aged, middle class diners and I doubt the other customers were handled like that. if so, good luck with that. also, stop trying to feed your vegans yorkshire puddings. Twice I was assured the whole dinner was vegan and the last time, we asked where the puddings were and we were told by the waitress there and then you'd never done vegan yorkshires. So yeah, we ate a load of egg and dairy...thinking of that, I'm not actually sure why we bothered going back.

Lovely meal but……… sadly my party got really put off our food by a dark haired ?manager in a floral patterned top shouting at a younger employee about counting forks for a table. Mam it’s basic kindness please. Yes you’re busy, but maybe treat your staff with some respect in front of customers. Pretty embarrassing. Found it really rude and uncomfortable to watch, and actually made me feel nauseous with how disrespectful the encounter was. I have always found the staff at the Hand and Heart very friendly and hospitable, however I was frightfully disappointed today. A little grace and decorum please.

We’ve been here a few times, and have always had good meals. Unfortunately this visit was quite disappointing. Starters were fine, mains were just about warm. One of our party ordered the steak pie, but was brought the “fake” pie by mistake. It wasn’t until...half way through that we realised it was not steak and the fact there were cashews in the pie. To their credit the staff credited the cost of that meal back, but with our meals being luke warm it spoiled the meal. Drinks were fine although for a tonic water seems a little excessive!
