We booked our table for 12.45pm for a Sunday roast on the 15th Oct. We were warned initially that the food was running “a little late”. After one hour and 35 minutes the roasts finally arrived. The food was extremely poor. Our plates were smothered in a mass of thick gravy making everything mushy and the slow roasted pork belly was undercooked and was 75% un-rendered fat. The Yorkshire puddings were undercooked and cold. Although we were not charged for this awful food we certainly wouldn’t have wanted to pay full price considering the quality of food served up. We are not in the habit of leaving bad reviews such as this but on this occasion we were so disappointed and feel justified in doing so. We definitely will not be returning in the future.
A birthday treat from my partner. She had been a couple of times before and said how good it was. She wasn't wrong. The building is a lovely old style country pub. but the quality of the food was excellent and very contemporary. Starters were delicious, bread and dips for me (the garlic and chive mayo is exceptional), followed by the steak hamburger (delicious). My partner had the salmon starter and lambs liver for main. I just had no room for a dessert but she managed to find room for the apple mess, whi9ch looked great and tasted as good as it looked (I'm told). As said, the food was excellent and the service was exemplary. A terrific experience. I look forward to turning 65 again!
Stopped by today and had the most delicious roast dinners. My husband had roast chicken I had an adapted vegetarian roast dinner. It should have been served with a goats cheese wellington but I am dairy intolerant so the chef kindly adapted the dinner to help me. Amazing vegetables, beetroot. Celeriac, carrots, etc If I could change anything it would be to have a dairy free vegetarian roast for future visits. Staff so friendly, setting absolutely beautiful and food delicious Thank you
What a lovely hidden gem! We were given a gift voucher for the George so this was our first visit. Beautiful place- very homely feel and very pretty both inside and out. Friendly staff and great menu choice. Portion sizes generous and the desserts are well worth leaving room for! Can highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding- best we’ve ever tasted. Will definitely be back .
