We were travelling and decided to have an early lunch having seen the pub previously when passing. We arrived just after they had opened and I didn't see any other customers. Bright and cheerful welcome, no problem with our dog coming in which was nice. Given it looked pleasant with tables in nice looking bay windows, we were a bit surprised to be given a table next to the disabled toilet, by the walkway and bar, but I think it was so they did not have to walk far. Almost immediately I thought I could smell urine, and eventually realised the toilet door was not shut properly. That made all the difference, though I did not go in to find out why it smelled so strongly. No idea why the staff though could not smell it. The drinks came quickly and likewise the food, but we were the only people there. We had a Caesar salad and jerk chicken wrap that came with fries and a little salad. Very average Caesar salad, and the wrap was tasteless, fairly sure some jerk sauce just stirred into mayo, though the fries were nice. Even though I left 3/4 of the wrap, the girl who collected our plates did not ask if there was a problem and no one had asked if the food was okay. By the time we left, at best there were only half a dozen tables occupied. Frankly, it seemed as if they were not interested, perhaps because it is on a main route and picks up passing traffic. Nice looking pub but we won't stop there again.

Food and service has gone down hill. Owner waited on our table and was happy to serve burnt (to a crisp) halloumi fries. Fish special was like hot water soup which tasted disgusting- no one asked how our meal was, the fish dish was completely left, again when clearing plates, no one asked how our meal was. As it was a special occasion we didn’t make a fuss, paid and left. The next day we checked the receipt to divvy the cost up between couples and noticed we’d been charged for drinks that were not ours. Rang and spoke to the owner to advise, who said she would look at the till receipt and call me back to discuss! That was 3weeks ago. I feel like I have given them long enough to sort out and call me back (before leaving this review). Think the chef has changed to a ‘family’ member now.

I asked for a children’s meal upgrading to an adult portion. A simple chicken nuggets, chips and beans. I was told this would be more money, which I completely understand. However, when I was told it would be £16.95 I decided to get the Sunday roast for £12.50. Shocking price for a simple meal.

Main meal disappointing and expensive for a mediocre meal. Desert lovely. Service slow. No atmosphere in the area where we were sat. Cant recommend
