Wow! We went to the Cross Keys as we had heard good things and we had family visiting from Switzerland, so we decided to book in for the Sunday Roast. We were extremely well looked after by the lovely, attentive staff, despite us being a larger group- the atmosphere was pleasant, cosy and comfortable. When the food came out it was nice and hot, and absolutely delicious. The roasties with lashings of gravy were certainly a highlight! Some of our party from Europe had never had a traditional roast before, but polished off the lot nonetheless! We were also impressed with the drink selection, and everything that came out was served to perfection. Overall, everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely be back and couldn’t recommend more!

Was recommended by a friend, who said it was best to book beforehand, and I’m glad we did. It’s clear to see why Sunday lunch here is so popular. Our meals were incredible. So many sides, and trimmings, and proper gravy too! Staff are fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and really care about making their customers feel welcome. Also the interior of The Cross Keys is a reason to visit in itself. If not for a meal, it’s worth a visit for a drink and to appreciate the surroundings. Steps away from the River Dee, it’s worth stopping by on a short stop in Chester for a real pint and hospitality.

I went with friend from overseas originally the bar staff where going to serve then insisted on seeing id of my friend who was 27 years old he showed copy of passport on telephone as not take original passport out and not accept ID felt the welcome was very cold and unwelcoming and have been here before but would never come again there seem to be underlying issue but anyway would not rate this pub as most welcoming in chester certsainly would not win in terms of hospitality

Called in for drinks on our weekend away Christmas shopping. Pub was pleasantly full but still room to sit. Good selection of beers and Stowford cider which is always a winner! Pork pies are excellent value as larger than we expected. Small but perfect. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Well done guys xx
