"I was at the bar ordering drinks and heard how rudely the manager was speaking to the member of staff which really put me off and made me feel uncomfortable, nobody should be treated like that. The staff were working brilliantly you could see that they were stressed but that is no way to speak to staff."

We were greeted warmly when we arrived for Sunday lunch at The Cheney Arms and were shown straight away to our table. The menu offered a good selection of dishes, not just traditional roasts, and the service was really efficient and absolutely seamless despite at least 3 different waiting staff attending to us. They were all very friendly yet professional. The food was tasty and we were clearly surrounded by other happy diners! We recommend you book in advance and we’ll definitely be back!

We ate at the Cheney Arms on Sat 16th. We had, Olives/Bread, Halloumi, Whitebait and Fishcake Starters. Lamb Shank, Scampi, Fish of the day (cod) and Lamb Pie with Stilton Mains. 1 pint San Miguel, 2 pints Sunchaser, Bottle of Prosecco. All the food was perfectly cooked and presented. Service was friendly and efficient. The bill was for £132:95. We all enjoyed another evening at the Cheney Arms and will undoubtably return. It is highly recommended. Paul Reynolds.

Poor pub food in a nice setting. Friends booked to meet up and were embarrassed by the food. The lamb shank was inedible, meagre, and undercooked. Game pie was tasteless. When asked, Was everything OK? by service staff (can 't really call him a waiter! . We explained the poor quality of the food, to be met with a banal comment, Oh, I will tell the chef! That was the last we saw of him or anyone else. We just paid and left. Wont go back!

We had an absolutely lovely stay here a halfway stop on the way further north and we couldn’t have picked better. The pub and restaurant were friendly, warm and welcoming. Excellent selection of win and a delicious dinner. The Camembert bites in particular were amazing. Our room was everything and more with a super comfy bed. We left refreshed would definitely stay again! The staff were super helpful and friendly as were the locals!
