Having arrived to our hotel at 9pm decided to venture out and find a place for a few beers. Having followed google maps to what seemed the closest bar to us was disappointed to find it closed. Having walked a little further down the street saw the unmistakable Kilkenny sign and knew we had found an irish bar. However having consulted google maps, the place is not shown??On entering we were immediately hit with mass of smoke. The bar is quite small, 3 quarters full with a mixed crowd (mostly looked locals) and everyone inside seemed to be smoking (including the bar maid). Normally we would turn straight around but we were gasping for a pint. Only after 20 minutes, when I went to go to the toilet found out they have a back room for non smokers. We immediately moved there. Unfortunately that room had zero atmosphere but was at least smoke free. Good little bar but would not recommend if you are not a smoker.
Achtung beim Eintreten: schlecht beleuchtete, steile Stufen ins Souterrain-Lokal! Musik gute, alte Hadern, aber leider viel zu laut!Bedienung freundlich, aber leider schwerhörig (vielleicht versteht sie aber nur nicht gut Deutsch?). Das Guiness Stout perfekt gezapft und wirklich gut, absoluter Hammer der Horse Meat Burger, der sehr interessant schmeckte, ebeso die Chicken Sticks und die gebackenen Onion Rings.(Noch) großer Raucherbereich!Um 20:00 Uhr bei vollem Lokal nahezu unerträglich laut.
Wir waren gestern im Bogside Inn um dort zu essen. Die Kellnerinnen waren alle sehr freundlich, wir bekamen nur einen kleinen Tisch, weil sonst alle Tische reserviert waren. Ich hatte den Texas Burger mit Dollar Chips, war sehr gut und riesengroß. Mein Freund hat Spare Ribs gegessen, die hätten noch mehr Würze vertragen, sonst waren sie okay. Wir waren im großen und ganzen zufrieden.
We had a small celebration here with a few friends and we were very pleased with the atmosphere of this pub. The food was ok, the waitresses were nice and fast. All in all I enjoyed my stay here, will definitely visit again.
