I'm so glad I decided to take a ride and try the Barge Restaurant and Banquet Faculity. Its located across from the Arthur Kill Waterways in Perth Amboy. There is a patio and indoor seating. I chose indoor seating because they were construction crews working at the time of my visit. The Barge restaurant has been around since 1925.It?s mostly seafood but they do have a nice selection of Soups, salads, burgers, wraps, steak, pasta and chicken. My review is based on lunch only. I chose for my entree the Broiled Scallops. I was surprised I receive 13 scallops for a lunch entree. Came with a house salad, and a choice of a side.I choose a baked potato. My scallops were delicious and perfectly cooked. My salad was crisp and a nice size. My friend ordered their Lobster Salad Wrap. She had a choice of sides and chose their potato salad. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The barge offers an extensive list of desserts, So many that they couldn?t list all of them on their menu. I had to scan the rest on to my iphone. for dessert I chose their Chambord Parfait, With vanilla ice cream layered Chambord and fresh whipped cream. This is where willpower comes in and I only had a couple of scoops it was that good. Second dessert I chose was their Crème Brûlée.It too was very good with a very creamy custard interior, and a hard shell on the exterior. It was just waiting to be crack with my spoon. Whipped cream was piped on the side of the dessert. The interior of the Barge is your typical nautical theme, with blue walls and nautical wallpaper as you walk in.There are white linens on all tables. The tables are distanced apart. The staff was very nice and friendly. They did their best to accommodate us at the time. The service was a bit slow, so I?m giving them four stars. I think they needed more waiters. This restaurant has two dining rooms which are spread out.The Barge restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Next time I come I'd like to sit outside on the patio and take in the views of the waterways. When you?re finished take a stroll on the pier that?s across the street.

I gave him a 3, but it's really more of a 2-2.5. It's still in the 70s. As soon as you go in, you are hit with a smell, it smells like urine, BUT, in reality, I think it's just the smell of the carpet that tastes the dining room. Certainly time to tear up and go with wood or LVT. The glasses and cutlery were very dirty when we came to our table. Our server was very polite and attentive. She gave us all the time we needed. We were a big party and some ran late. But at one point, the person carrying out food, did not care to tell her, and our food was there. We had to get up and get our own coffee. The food was hit and measured. The scallop wrapped with bacon appetizer was good, but the baked shells had much too much bread, and what seemed like an overpowering lemon flavor. The fried Calamari was extremely fat, and the bread did not stop. All enjoyed their entrees, made by surf-turf (very good, but accompanied by a useless lobster shrimp), perfectly made scallops, and a delicious filled lobster tail. The house made cream brulee and rice pudding were very good. Her white Sangria was overly sweet, strong and you tasted more alcohol than wine and fruit. It looked like orange juice. We also noticed that most people who come to eat were of the 65 older variety that are probably the same people who visited the barge when they opened. Do not make a mistake - this place has 4-5 stars potential. I would go to limbs and say that it was a 4-5 star restaurant during a time. My parents liked the place for a reason. But they must begin to get rid of the carpet, clean the dishes and update the place.

We wanted to go to Armory on Saturday night, but wait was so long. We landed at the barge. Immediately after sitting there was plenty of obvious why there was no waiting time and many empty tables. We were a party of 8. We were not accompanied to a table, but we were directed with the shaft of the arm and the point of the finger on our table. Our server was amazing, but not so much to the extremely rude owner, the icy dining area, the terrible food and the absence of vegetables served with our dinner( 1 piece of carrot and a sheet of spinach) again, next to our server that went and beyond to satisfy us the rest, was quite terrible. Not only will we never go back, we will tell everyone we know how awful the food and the experience was.

Eating terrible and too expensive. Please never order the crab cakes or mash potatoes. Scallops have no season. Not sure how these places get high marks. Even my Hennessey drink didn't taste like the right thing. beautiful atmosphere, but it's about that. Find another restaurant
