We called in without a booking and the place was really busy. We grabbed a drink and headed to the bar to wait - but the lovely waitress called us after 10 minutes to say a table was open for us. Luck! The table appeared to be next to the door to the staff loo which wasn't ideal. Plenty of coming and going, however we were grateful to have a seat. We checked out the impressive menu - pub food with serious foody intent. We opted for a sirloin steak for me and brisket for my wife. Both were exceptional dishes - the smoked mash on my wife's plate was divine. I had a weirdly wonderful truffle pumpkin, truffle butter and a super soft, beautifully cooked steak. We were most impressed. The brisket was amazing - tender and tasty. Pudding was apple and rhubarb crumble to share. It was a disappointment - coming in a hot bowl but cold in the middle. The oat crumb was like baked muesli and didn't really help matters. We left most of it and told the attentive waitress that we were a bit disappointed. To our surprise it was removed from our bill which was a nice gesture. This isn't a cheap "grab a party and a pint" restaurant. There are several meals pushing $40 on the menu - but high quality food and attention to detail comes at a price. We left happy and impressed. We will book a table next time. Away from the loo. Service was impeccable all night. Highly recommended.

There were a dozen of us having an after meeting dinner at this hotel, all of us for the first time. The menu choice was large with all the usual staples plus a few extras like tempura oysters [ all the oysters could be had in servings of 3 as well as the normal dozen or half dozen.]We had a variety of meals, duck [delicious] rib eye steaks and eye fillets , red snapper , pasta with squid ink and a beef pie - no one was complaining.the service was very good and the wine choices were extensive both by the glass and carafe

Food is ok, but we went there to watch the football only to have about a dozen of the most pompous people you can meet have the tv tuned into the rugby and despite objecting as we were watching the other they changed it for these upstarts. The worst part is not one watched the event anyway. This really is a pompous establishment for those who think they are something.Stay away from the place if you are a normal person.
