Having been to other restaurants at the Inn at New Hyde Park i expected a more lively experience. There was no one at the Hostess Station and people behind the bar just ignored us. Considering it was a Saturday evening the place was quiet, so no hostess, no attention from the bartendars and no one around the restaurant we thought we were in the wrong place. We were in right place but there was only one other table occupied and no one else came the entire time we were there. It was Memorial Day weekend but i had trouble getting a reservation in other places so not sure why no one else was at Table 7. Waaiter was a bit strange but pleasant and efficient, food wasn't bad but not great. Fried Calamari was close to the best i have eaten, scallops were delicious, mushroom risotto was yellow rice with mushrooms and some grated cheese on top. Dessert menu was limited with our choice of vanilla gelato not great. Prices wwre reasonable for the portions but not sure i would go back.
Second time in a month my wife and I made a reservation which was canceled. The first time we received a call from the restaurant but the second time we were never informed and when we arrived were turned away because a private party was booked. We were told that we should not use open table because no ones checking that site at the restaurant. We were also told there is no manager of the restaurant. It’s really sad because we were married at The Inn 9 years ago and have been celebrating our anniversary there every year. This would be our first meal there as Table 7. Will likely try again because the place has so much meaning for us but would recommend no one use an app to make a reservation.
The grilled lamb chops and steak au poivre were excellent. So was the fried calamari appetizer. Would definitely go again to try other dinner entrees. Service was excellent and friendly
Good was excellent, service was great. There were a couple of parties of 6-8 people, which made it a bit loud in the room. I would definitely eat there again.
