We visited Snowshill, the location where a wedding scene from Bridget Jones Diary was filmed. This village is absolutely picturesque and charming, secluded from busy roads and extremely peaceful. There is a single pub in the village, located across from the church. We stopped in for drinks and chose to sit outside in the back garden area. The pub was crowded with patrons enjoying delicious and generously portioned meals. Our service was prompt and we enjoyed soaking up the sunshine and the timeless surroundings. Snowshill is definitely a must-visit location, with free parking just a short walk away from the village.

This place is exactly what we were looking for in a post-hike pub lunch. The historic building is rustic and simple, but typically beautiful, charming, and authentically preserved. The food is not outstanding, but its prepared very well, hearty and delicious. Service is friendly. Hiking from Stanton into Snowshill is a special experience, as you exit the woods into a hilltop meadow with a view of the village perched below amidst the surrounding hills. It would have been a great spot for a picnic, but alas we descended across the meadow into the village and to the pub, which was perfect.

There are many pubs in the Cotswolds that have succumbed to current visitor trends and lost their uniqueness. However, the Snowshill Arms remains a traditional pub serving good beer and classic dishes at reasonable prices. It may not be trendy or upscale, but that only adds to its charm.

This was an impromptu first visit as we had been to the nearby lavender fields and were hankering for a Sunday lunch. Proper pub, no WiFi, no loud music just great food at a good price and the opportunity to talk and enjoy a nice meal !
