I went to this gem of a restaurant right off the main road, not for from the beautiful town center of Appenzell. Despite the close proximity to town ( fifteen minute walk) I didn't see any other tourists. The menu is limited but the food is less expensive than in town and is excellent. We visited a second time to experience the cakes and desserts. We sat among locals and enjoyed everything. This is a convenient and pleasant stroll from the city center and will save some money and you will have a true Swiss experience.Go!
we enter this restaurant by chance returning from the mount ebenalp. is a small restaurant that receives practically only locals. the day we were being served only vegetable soup, which was delightful. the tables were almost all occupied by seniors and gentlemen, some even playing cards. It was worth a visit.

Wonderful bakery with local traditional treats, very yummi! Playground for children including balance rope and sandbox, next to long sleds and swing set.
