Sachins - Table reservation

understood this was the number Indian restaurant in Newcastle and heard so many good reports we were really looking forward to eating at Sachins but what a disappointment, unfortunately when we booked a few weeks earlier we hadn’t realised it was restaurant week and...can only assume this was the reason for the poor service and the overall sense of chaos. Our party arrived at the bar area was very busy and full of empty glasses not a good sign, we were seated upstairs, it took half an hour for first drinks to arrive, over an hour for starters to be served and over hours before we received the main course. I ate from the RW menu and food was okay but nothing special, some of the party chose from the main menu and overall feedback was pretty good although we were also disappointed with the decor, no real sense that you were actually in an Indian restaurant and the menus were printed on a piece of card, all very basic. we were hoping to move on after the meal but it was so late we had to leave to catch the final buses/metros etc.., you do not except to be in a restaurant for over hours for starters and main course. I understand that restaurant week is to attract customers that may not normally visit you, well all I can say it is having the opposite effect as you don’t get a chance to make a impression

We enjoyed a truly magical evening at Sachin Indian Punjabi restaurant where everything was perfect, inviting, heart warming and the food was exquisite. The warm welcome we received was so lovely, the staff were funny and charming. Ambience and music made the evening very...enjoyable too. I was so impressed with the food that I'd love to spend a couple of weeks with the chef learning more about his recipes. I simply feel inspired to try to recreate the food and flavours we experienced. Would I return there again, it's a yes. Would I recommend the restaurant to friends and family, it's a yes. This says it all really!

Good food but anything that comes out on a skillet is unhygienic. The chicken tikka starter comes out on a bed of onions, on a skillet that hasn’t been cleaned. Consequently it stinks of burnt onions and also, contains onions and burnt debris from previous...diners meals need to clean these skillets between services please

My friends and I went here on Jan, food was amazing, I had king prawns for starter and aunty's prawn curry, ingredients very fresh and tasty. Staff were very friendly welcoming, can't wait to return

Great service. Lovely food. Good portion size and well priced. Very attentive staff. Will go again when back for work. Highly recommend.
