Avoid this tourist restaurant if you know about seafood. I was sorry I believed the reviews. From my very first taste of a clam from the platter we were served I knew it was not a good choice. The seafood was old badly prepared and left to soak in salty water. The service was below average at best and they did not even provide a pick to use for the crab let alone a bowl to clean your hands with, just cheap wipes. We had to ask them to take away our shells. I am surprised I didn’t get seafood poisoning and relieved! The worst seafood I have had and I am fortunate to have experienced quite a bit over the years. Our hotel also said it was terrible shame I didn’t ask before we went but the trip advisor reviews were ok avoid!
Rias Baixas 1 is a restaurant in Vigo, Spain which specializes in local Galician dishes. Rias Baixas has two locations ip the road from each other within the modern section of the city. So you’ll be able to find one of them. Rias Baixas 1 was recommended by the locals as a good place to get fish and they weren’t wrong. They have a display filled with fresh catches to choose from including Bacalhau. Rias Baixas 1 also has other local dishes and beverages too. Also, the atmosphere is pretty cool as it is decked out with local trinkets. Rias Baixas 1, definitely a nice stop in Galicia.
We were advised to go to Rias Baixas by our hotel manager who told us there was no better place to go if in search of good fresh seafood in Vigo at the right price He even said he would recommand no other restaurants in town since none could be compared to Rias Baixas in value! Service was very efficient and indeed our meals came in extremely well executed at a very reasonable price. Thumbs up for Rias Baixas!
My Wife I ate here on the first night of our visit to Vigo as it had good TripAdvisor ratings was only around the corner from our hotel (NH Collection). We got a friendly greeting on arrival once we saw the fresh fish on offer we knew we were in safe hands. Suffice to say we returned on three other occasions the standard never dropped. Highly recommended.
