It can be hard in popular tourist towns, in my experience, to find good authentic, inexpensive Bistro fare in the main tourist thoroughfares. That is not a problem here, with Nota Bene being right in the middle of town with friendly service, a cosy atmosphere and great traditional French bistro food. All the dishes were very nice but as I have often found to be the case in France, the desserts were absolutely outstanding.
The food and service were both very good. My bf had the foie gras, lamb, and walnut cake while I has the soup (delicious and super filling), veal, and chocolate cake. The bread is amazing. Some of the best I've ever had in France My only caution is the wine we chose. We had the burgundy, which at €25 was the most expensive on the menu, and it was completely unimpressive. Avoid that but definitely go to this restaurant!
I went here alone during a business trip, after reading the reviews. It's a very cosy place with warm friendly service. I ordered an asparagus soup as starter, that was really the best asparagus soup I've ever eaten. For the main dish I had a dorade fish fillet, which was also superb. Unfortunately my stomach had no place left for a desert. The price was very reasonable.
Small family run restaurant serving traditional french cuisine, but in such a way it tickles your taste-buds for days afterwards. Menu is somewhat restricted, but what they have is top-class. Book a table, it is a small place in great demand locally.
