We found ourselves just before noon overlooking the sea at the Ile Tudy, thanks to a recommendation from the manager of the place where we were staying near Quimper. The view of the bay was spectacular. A man approached with his fishing gear and we asked if there was somewhere to eat. "Just along there" he said, waving towards the point. We rounded it and thought he had been leading us on, since we found nothing but more views of land and sea. They were again stunning, this time of the estuary and of Loctudy and its harbour on the opposite bank. Further on we were pleased to find the Place de la Cale, with four eating places, which we examined closely. Le Malamok at the Hotel Modern looked the most traditional and the most interesting. Our welcome there proved to be bright and friendly, the menus good, the prices reasonable, the scents from the kitchen intriguing. We ordered one menu of the day - moules mariniere - and one assiette de fruits de mer. Both were just superb, their ingredients fresh from the sea, and their presentation simple but thoroughly inviting. The staff were smiling, helpful and attentive throughout. We felt that we had a highly satisfying, very French meal that was not too costly and really good value because of its freshness. We shall definitely aim to go again and will always remain grateful to the staff at our Holiday Property Bond location of Le Manoir du Hilguy for pointing us in exactly the right direction for the start of our excellent holiday. But finding such a good restaurant was itself just a matter of luck!!

If you are looking for crab, langoustine and very fresh fish, make this a port of call. We have eaten there before and enjoyed a crab from the carte, ditto langoustines. The crab was monster sized and fresh. We had set menus another time and good food and value. Revisiting three years on the restaurant has had a make-over décor wise and is pleasant and fresh with a slight nautical touch. The menus are varied and reasonably priced. Luckily for us (wanting crab and langoustines) they appeared together as a starter on the 33.50 euro menu. For mains we had Brill and Gilt Head Bream. Both are expensive fish. Each plate had an oyster. The bream came with a glass of champagne sauce and was just so good. Raspberry macaroon was light and well filled. Moules frites was very popular so the price range of meals is versatile.Meals can be taken outside which gives you a beautiful view of the wrap-round sea and views across to Loctudy. There is a hotel upstairs which is a separate enterprise so you could nicely combine a meal and accommodation in this charming little port.

We stumbled upon the cluster of five or six restaurants nestled at the far point of Ile Tudy, and enjoyed a nice lunch with great views and a chilled vibe at restaurant Malamock. The kids enjoyed the inevitable steak hache option, whilst my wife and I both ordered the moulded frites which arrived promptly and were delicious (anyone else notice that the moules in Brittany seem to be small in comparison to some of the monsters served in places such as Antibes on the south coast?). For desert my wife had a rather ordinary chocolate mousse whilst I had some lovely chocolate profiteroles followed by some coffees. Overall a good experience with swift and friendly service, prices reflected the good views! We did not arrive until well after 2pm and had no problem getting seated, I imagine that service and space is more limited at midday through 1pm. Recommended

The sun was shining and we got a table just in the harbor. Ate the large fruit de mer - which was excellent and very fresh and had a lovely bottle of Sancerre. One of the best nights of that vacation!
