Room Large cobwebs in two corners of the room. A black mark the size of a pence on the white duvet cover and food crumbs in the crevices of the remote control causing it to be difficult to use at times. The towel...rail in the bathroom was missing as was the toilet roll holder. So there was nowhere to hang anything in the bathroom, no door hooks either. Only one side of the bed had a lamp which made it very difficult to get up in the middle of the night or even read. The table and one chair were so very shabby even a charity shop I am sure would not accept them. During the evening meal which was ok another couple were asking for the radiators to be put on in their room as it was very cold. We also asked at the same time and was told that the owner had said earlier it was not needed. Staff went to speak with the owner again. we were then told it had been turned on but the radiators had not been bled so unlikely to come on. The heating was not turned on because the pipe coming up through the floor to the radiator thermostat remained cold. The breakfast was poor, no jam or marmalade available, bacon was cold and the dining room felt very cold as the heating was still not on. I did leave them a polite note in the room before leaving in the hope she would give us a call to apologise but no such luck

Checked in at the bar, mid afternoon. Greeted by friendly bar staff. The owner showed us upstairs to our room which was spacious and very uncluttered. An evening spent in the pub resulted in my thinking I had drunk too much, but the morning showed...the floor to be on an extreme slope (see photos). The tea cups could do with being mugs as they are quite small. The bed was comfy and our room at the front wasn't noisy. The bells from the church are an excellent addition and I think they stop between and or maybe I was just very tired. The shower screen wasn't very effective due to handles on the bath which prevented it from sealing. As a result, water ran down the outside and down the slope into the bedroom area. The pub is locked at night, with no on site staff. We had to leave the key in the door to show we had left and depart via the fire escape.

My room was noisy as it was over the extractor fan for the kitchen. I complained because of the terrible noise and vibration, but told that was all there was. The fan was only off between and I felt they had my money...so didn’t care. Terrible service.

Back again to this lovely pub. Nice people, good food, comfy rooms and lovely outside area with lots of flowers in bloom. All at a reasonable price.
