Unfortunately I had a rather disappointing lunch experience here.A few positive things first:- The location is unbeatable - directly at Raten (1077m) with a wonderful panorama - and easily reached with public transportation (hourly bus connection from Zug via Oberaegeri).- The dishes are classic and good. As starter I opted for a lamb leaf salad with mushrooms and air-dried meat: fresh and tasty. As main course the calf liver with roesti did its job properly. The dessert was a homemade apple cream - light and refreshing. However my lunch was really let down by the disorganized service.- Upon arrival and despite having booked a table, three staff members completely ignored me! Not amused at all.- I had only eaten half of my starter, when the waitress appeared with the main course!- The waitress in charge of my table was kind and efficient enough. But most staff members looked tired, disorganized and much under stress. At CHF84 the bill was high - even for Swiss standards. Food is good but service definitely needs some significant improvement.

Very well situated in green meadows on the Raten Pass road between Oberägeri and Biberbrugg. Large, modern and very bright restaurant with plenty of window spaces and plenty of parking on a weekday. We came here for lunch on a mid-week drive, there were plenty of people here but we had no problems getting a table without reservations. However, we understand that the restaurant can be very busy on weekends and in top season. Service was quite friendly and efficient. We had a mixed salad with fresh forest berries and the risotto with chanterelles. Both were very well executed and presented with excellent food quality. We also had a look at their extensive menu and would like to return for a dinner at one of our next Swiss visits when the opportunity arises.

This is a very popular restaurant, beautiful setting with great views. In winter at night, the lighting and decoration are fantastic. Food is good quality, good variety, normal Swiss prices. The flambée speciality dishes (especially with tiger prawns) are very impressive and servings are good. Service fine - easier if you speak German though. Only downside for us on recent occasion were flies pestering us while eating. Maybe we are oversensitive to this, but I find it really undermines a classy restaurant - and all it needs is a judiciously placed UV zapper unit. But we certainly recommend this restaurant anyway.

What a great location above Oberageri. Take the bus up, have a lovely lunch and then walk back down through the woods and fields. Excellent food and service in the restaurant, and lots of other walks nearby if you want more time to admire the views. Made a great day out from Zug.
