Raku is a hidden gem in China town off the strip. An unassuming place with one small dining room and private rooms. We came for dinner and while curious about the Omakase tasting menus, thought the price was a little high and decided to order our own courses. The waitress was quite helpful responding to questions and providing info to navigate the menu. We had the Koshino Kanbai sake and it was a nice mild drink. We started with the crispy fried shrimp and I must say we were not fans. It comes out very hot, greasy from the oil, and in the shell. Its quite a mess to pull the shell off without any utensils and while the shrimp is good there was not a lot of flavor too it. This was about the only thing we didn't love. We had the Popeye salad and really enjoyed it, very savory flavors. The blue fin tuna sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Really liked the flavor of the Agedashi tofu with its sauce and mushrooms. The direct flamed eggplant was ok. The grilled salmon was quite good. We had several Kobe beef filet with wasabi skewers and liked the tender flavorful meat. Overall, quite a great place and meal with fresh tasty ingredients grilled just right. Nice, calm setting away from the noise of the casino's, its like you are transported to Japan. Would definitely come back.
