My wife and I stumbled on Railway Cafe during our recent annual visit to Vancouver. We went to the area to try out a food truck that was highly recommended by our daughters and spotted Railtown Cafe down the road. We were intrigued by the offerings on their boards and came back the next day to give it a try. We did not regret it.I had "The Spinach" salad bowl, but substituted quinoa for barley and spicy Korean dressing for vinagrette. My wife had "The Kale" (with honey roasted carrots, fresh garbanzo beans, shaved fennel, peas, oranges, almonds and a lemon, olive oil & mint dressing). Both dishes were amazingly good and sufficiently filling for a meal. The lunch crowd was a non-stop stream of mainly young folks from surrounding offices (fashion, design, architecture, IT), and the ordering system was quite efficient. Customers would give their order to Colin, who inputed these into an ipad, then proceeded to the cashier to pay and then waited for their order to be brought to the table or to them as they waited for takeaway. There were many who ordered on line to shorten the wait. The whole experience didn't seem to take too long.Aside from salad bowls, they offered interesting sandwiches, sides and an option to make your own salad. We will definitely go back during our next trip out, and maybe check out their other outlets as they seem to be growing rapidly around Vancouver.
