As there are only 3 restaurants on the lake front main strip in Caslano and I hate to go where tourists flock like blind sheep, it was tough to choose where to have a meal. As Quadrifoglio was devoid of foreigners and resembled a a vine covered Mediterranean terrace, we decided to give it a go. I'm sure it's even cuter in the evening by candlelight. We were the only table there and as it was just after lunchtime, 14:15hrs, the young male server informed us that only Pizzas were available. Fine with us, just what we needed after a long drive from Zürich. The server was courteous and professional without too much interaction. For a touristic destination, I'd have expected more chit chat from him, but at least he smiled. My girl and I both ordered pizzas and as a chilli freak, I asked if they had any home made 'peperoncino' or 'picante' sauce. He smiled cheekily and brought out fresh habanero chillies, dried chilli flakes and 'an olio di pepperoncino picante' chilli oil. I was well pleased. Mind you it wasn't hot enough for me so I ended up using my own Naga Jolokia chilli sauce that is my loyal dining companion.Pizzas were affordable. I ordered a tuna and red onion pizza (CHF 16) and the other half ordered a small prosciutto and mushroom pizza (CHF 13). Smaller pizzas can be ordered for a reduction of 3 CHF off the menu price. If you're not famished, I suggest getting a smaller pizza, it's still almost 30 cms in size. The pizza dough was very good, not too thin and definitely not deep pan, puffed up in the right places. It could have been a cooked longer, a touch crispier. The tomato sauce was perfect; uncooked and simply blended tomatoes. I hate cooked tomato sauces on pizzas. The mozzarella was OK, obviously commercial but as you'd expect in any 'non-gourmet' pizzeria. My tuna pizza was tasty, full of onions and I devoured it within a couple of minutes. The mushrooms on my partner's pizza were out of a can and that is why I have only given them an 'average' rating. Fresh mushrooms are always available in Europe and are relatively inexpensive. There is absolutely NO excuse for using canned mushrooms. Artichokes, I can understand as they're essentially seasonal but mushrooms? No, never, sacrilege. All in all, we'd definitely return.

I know the Quadrifoglio for years. I used to go there as a child for years with my family. Unfortunately everything has changed. There was a new owner, went some times with my wife there, now already new owners again. Very happy we took our way to the restaurant. And the horrorshow started. The restaurant was almost empty, only two guests sitting at a table for 4 guest (I will tell you later why this is important). Ok we stood on the terrace, waiting, waiting again, no one came. So we decided to sit down, a nice table. 10 seconds after that the owner came out like a rocket and let us know that we cannot sit at this nice table cause it is a table for 4 guests. Remember the restaurant was empty and the other 2 guests were at a 4 table too. He told us we had to take a table for 2 in the middle of the restaurant, very unromantic. First I thought he was joking but no, he was fully serious. So we decided to left the restaurant cause this is not to way to treat guests in an empty restaurant. We walked down 20 meters to the lake in another nice restaurant (which had lots of guests), got a nice table and had a great dinner with great food and wine...maybe one day we will come back to Quadrifoglio, when there is a new owner again, which may not take too long I think.P.s. The restaurant hat 3 other guests that night, cause we could see the entrance from the other spot....maybe they hat to sit at a table for one each?

This is a wonderful, cosy place very close to the lake. Was there with my six years old son, another kid and two best friends. This is a place to have pizza! It was September and my son wanted a pizza con fungi porcini every time we were passing by. But you can have not only pizza but also other local products, such as polenta etc. They have really good local wines as well. Everything is fresh and made with lots of love. On the pic is a huge family pizza! Yammy

We had great Pizza and pasta there, but also meat is very good, and the owners are really friendly. It's very nice when you can be outside on the terrace, just 2 steps from the lake.
