Tacky 90's decor. We tried to book before 8pm and we were told they were booked out. We go there right on 8 & there were three, maybe four tables with diners. Our table was at the back - as far away as possible from the water view. The service was nothing short of hideous. They took forever to bring wine and food menus, and with next to no diners, took a further amount of forever to bring the drinks. The waitress asked us how we like our salmon cooked? Seriously - its not a steak! This is some crazy stuff. We asked about gluten free options from our waitress. She was not 'allowed' to answer this as it had to be escalated to the manager. WHAT? So the food itself was actually quite nice, nothing amazing, but not horrible either. I just can't get past the hideous decor, tacky feel and the horrible service. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back. For the price you pay (it isn't cheap) there are so many better options in Hobart.
I loved my dining experience at The Point. Could fault nothing! The service, the food, the service, the view, the service, the experience, oh and did I mention the service. Worth every cent!! I had an overnight stay in hospital a couple of weeks prior to my dining experience at The Point, and I can assure you, the comparison in the service I received for these two experiences could not be more opposite!! Especially for the money!!!!
We were a table of 3 and there were only 2 more tables that night - but it was a mid-week. Had the Blue Eye Trevalla, which was the fish of the day, with a crab salon and it was delicious. The fish was beautifully cooked with a crispy skin and the crab salad was very fresh. Waitress (Amber) was attractive and attentive. We all enjoyed it. Visit 29/6/16.
Friendly front of the house staff with immediate service. The whiskey crème brûlée was amazing, beautiful taste combinations of sweet with a light tang from the orange jam sorbet (refreshing palate cleaner) between the gooey chocolate track-cinnamon donut. Definitely recommend. Beautiful dessert to share.
