My sister whom I am visiting knows about my obsession with Egg Benedict of all descriptions and suggested we have breakfast at the Phoenix. I passed the place several times during this and past visits and was always intrigued that the place seem packed at...all hours of the day. After glancing over the sandwich selections, the pastries and cakes on offer, I began to understand why! I ordered the Montreal' version of the Egg Benedict I'd call it Arlington as the based is laid with smoked salmon and was surprised on two fronts: How fast it was served and how rich it looked! The egg yolk was running as it should be some of my sister's was however set the Hollandaise intrigued my palate and the entire presentation was making me salivate before I even had my first bite. At Euros and a bit it was good value for money and I think I may very well return for a da capo performance over the coming weeks when another Egg Benedict craving strikes. Sadly did the lady owner decline to have a photograph taken to help promote the restaurant not that they apparently need it given their table turnover and said her hubby too was too busy. Hmmm, well everyone is allowed a bad hair day, no? What mattered was that my #EggBenedictChallenge was met head on and they got out of at first try.
Germany's restaurants were and remain under lockdown since November last year but at least some have offered the option of ordering on line and picking up food. Phoenix does that too allowing for my craving to be stilled for Eggs Benedict. Picked up twice now...and there will be a third time before I leave for back home again. Impeccable service, absolutely on time if not before time availability of my order and the staff were absolutely charming. I also bought two gift vouchers for a friend to try an Egg Benedict when the restaurant can open again and even the purchase of the vouchers was a positive experience with staff keen and full of smiles behind their masks. Comes absolutely recommended!
The coffee is great and there are also some great breakfast dishes or delicious muffins, also partly vegan. Unfortunately, it closed on Sunday. It is not far from the station and near the cinema Cineplex. The seats outside are cool. But you're just sitting on the street. I think it would be great if there was another Phoenix near the market or something.
The café, in my opinion, stands out from all other cafés. It is erected to be brown/coloured. The coffee tastes all the first cream, of course also has its price. You can also take the coffee from your own roast home.
