I have in many cases ask why so many restaurants on Paseo Maritimo in Torrox Costa are in some way unfriendly. Unfriendly for tourists because they do not have personal with some foreign languages. The case with Pepe Rico is the same. I do not feel home in this restaurant. And the food, nothing to praise. Both chicken and pork on the plate with fries without anything else, without taste also ! Not even a little vedgetables, or ...? And the red wine botlle straight from freece, icecold. I did visit this place two times, first and last. And on top prices. I could easily name many restaurants on Paseo Maritimo with better prices and more tasteful food. Touristplace is only a touristplace.
I have been a regular visitor to this restaurant for the past fifteen years and I have never been disappointed with a meal. Antonio the proprietor gives personal attention to each diner. His Ukrainian wife is an excellent chef and each dish is prepared there and then to order. The signature dish is the steak on a hot plate but it is the first class quality of the ingredients that make the food so unique here. Everything is cooked to perfection and the accompanying wines are always the best. Don’t expect a romantic atmosphere, but DO go if you appreciate good food
I posted a review for restaurant Pepe Rico 11. Which is NOT this one. Pepe Rico 11 is situated on the road up from the Faro. This restaurant is on the Paseo. There is no comparison between the two. This one is average and there are many similar in the area. Pepe Rico 11 that is Pepe Rico DOS is a far superior restaurant with individual attention from the owner Antonio and his wife the chef. My earlier review was mis posted by TripAdvisor on 20 June
We enjoyed our meal at Pepe Rico on the seafront promenade. The tables are well spaced, the service to deliver drinks and take the food order was well timed and the food delivered in a good time. The food quality was good and reasonably priced. The time from requesting the bill to being able to pay was a little longer than we would have liked, but that was not a major issue.
