After dining this past Saturday at the Original Michelangelo Eastport in the KIng Kullen shopping center I was left dumbfounded how such a great place could change so much. It became quickly clear ownership had changed. The restaurant side was completely understaffed and staffed by totally untrained staff. Not a manager visible. The level of cleanliness also went down. The baked clam appetizer was ok but needed to be cooked longer. Our entrees lacked in flavor, my chicken piccata came with a side of pasta with wrong sauce which they did offer to correct. I declined because at this point I wanted to be done. I received the wrong wine but again just wanted to be done so didn’t correct. The icing on the cake was the server dropping the entire bowl of pasta with red sauce on me. He than came back after I cleaned up the booth. When I received the bill he told me he took $5.75 off the $126 bill (pre tax and tip). Never saw a manager, didn’t see one manager meet or greet one table, not sure they even had one which explained the service issues. Doesn’t explain the food quality. There are many great Italian spots in a stones throw. You all really need to do better.

The most frustratingly inconsistent place. One day the chicken parm tastes fresh and is made exactly how I asked for it (extra sauce) and then the next time, the chicken cutlet is clearly reheated and dry as heck and no extra sauce to be found. Pizza always has a strange burned taste to the bottom and it isn’t the classic char. It just tastes like burned cardboard. Better to go to Caruso’s in Riverhead even though it’s 20 minutes away. At least I can count on the food being consistently delicious.Owners wrote back that I must have them confused with another Pizza joint but no, I am talking about the Michelangelo’s in Eastport in the King Kullen shopping center. I wasn’t asked to give any information but my name when I walked in and ordered the food.

Exceptional pizza and sausage rolls. Fast, friendly customer service. This is my favorite regular slice on Long Island. Easy five star rating here.
