General: On Sunday afternoon we had received tickets for the Comödie Dresden, and so we went to Dresden together with Schwager and Schwägerin. Since we finished our piece at 6:00, of course we wanted to go to dinner again. Schwinäger wishes foreign specialties, and since I was recently Russian with my wife and was very convinced, we were looking for a Russian restaurant in Dresden. Four of them are available in Dresden, and we chose the “Odessa” directly opposite the famous Dresdner Zwinger. So two days before we ordered a table by phone, so we had enough time from the comedy to Odessa. Ambience: Located in the historic centre of Dresden, in the immediate vicinity of the famous baroque buildings of Zwinger and Dresdner Castle, as well as the Semperoper, the “Odessa” is located in a multipurpose block built after the political turn. Not necessarily suitable for the area, but useful. Also in the interior the New Fashion look continues. The Odessa consists of a large guest room with adjoining kitchen. On the walls paintings that I don't think fit into the Russian place. Wall painting in Russian style?? The lighting is realized with cool LED lights. At the entrance a laptop with a disco system where Russian radio stations are played via “Surfmusik”. Guest room with LED lighting and disco This unfortunately far too loud, so you could not have a reasonable and pleasant conversation. The ambience and volume reminded me of a bar for young people. Like everywhere in the city centers, parking is quite difficult and sometimes quite expensive. Operation: A young, pretty lady, as well as a young man housed the three occupied tables. After entering, we were deliberately ignored, then we finally gave to understand that we can sit where we want. The young lady gave us the cards and disappeared to smoke with his colleague. So the service was all night. When the guests were quickly hosted, they disappeared outside to smoke and watched the restaurant from outside through the windows. Service is something else, we felt almost disturbing. The food: I could convince my brother-in-law to enjoy a Baltika beer a ́3,20 €. But why the Baltika beer is presented in Erdinger Weizen-Gläsern, I don't quite understand. Baltika Beer in Erdinger Weizen-Glas My beloved and her sister chose a Schoppen vom Sauvion for 5,50 € as well as a Bardol Chiare for 4,10 €. Sauvion and Bardol Chiare As an appetizer, we chose twice the Soljanka (a strong and spicy soup made from different meat and salt cucumbers, served with black olives, lemon slice and smetana) for € 4.80 and the Pelmeni in meat boillon for € 4.50 each. As main dishes, my sister-in-law and my wreath wished the zharkoe (traditionally prepared pork with vegetables, served in a tone pot) a ́10,20 €, my brother-in-law dared the pork Odessky served with salad garnish with homemade roast potatoes for 10,40 € and my favourite served the beef medallions with sharp tomato sauce 50 Soljanka (a strong and spicy soup made from various meat and salt cucumbers, served with black olives, lemon slice and smetana) was a disappointment for me. Thin sausage strips, stretched with potato slices and very thin sauce, with few black olives and Nen Kleck's cream. That's what's going on. Too bad. Soljanka (a strong and spicy soup made from various meat and salt cucumbers, served with black olives, lemon slice and smetana) The 8 Pelmeni in Fleischbouillon were really delicious. The noodle dough pleasantly soft, inside plentiful filled with well seasoned minced meat. The Boullion also beautiful spicy and hot. Pelmeni in Fleischbouillon When the most important food came to the table, I thought you would like to accompany us. Zharkoe Zharkoe (traditionally prepared pork with vegetables, served in a tone pot) had rather the size of an appetizer. Zharkoe (traditionally prepared pork with vegetables, served in tone pot) A small clay pot filled with potatoes, paprika and pork pieces that are clear in the background. The potatoes pleasantly soft, the paprika unfortunately also. The pig is partly shiny and greasy. But it wasn't enough to get tired. Luckily there was another soup. Pork carving po Odessky serves homemade roast potatoes with salad set The pork carving po Odessky served with salad set with homemade roast potatoes was thin and only provided with sheep. The Panade greasy, the roast potatoes also fat and very pale. No trace of onions or bacon. These were really only sliced potato columns, briefly fried in a lot of fat. Homemade is different. Rind medallions with sharp tomato sauce (marinized beef fillet, served on Piquant Spinat) with roasted potatoes Only the beef medallions with sharp tomato sauce (marinated beef fillet, served on piquant spinach) with roasted potatoes were quite pleasant. Although the meat bean was clearly fried, it was still slightly juicy. Here again the fat, pale roast potatoes. For this purpose an undefined, definitely not sharp sauce in a bowl. A small, fresh salad has rounded off the food. If that's Russian, I don't know. We've seen it differently. Cleanliness: The toilets are in the basement and were clean. On the tablecloth a few small spots, here you should change the decoration in time. Result: Due to the location near the center you will be more likely on tourists. We were not touched by the ambience or by the food offered. The service was also miserable. We've experienced this much better, even with real Russians. Too bad.

The restaurant lies in Ostra-Allee 11, not far from the Zwinger. It’s a nice and gay restaurant where one can have very good Russian specialities. I just had a beer there during the lunch break which I imposed myself on the occasion of my visit to the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, on September 11th, 2016, after eating a sandwich. Unfortunately my stay in Dresden wasn’t long enough for me to be able go to that restaurant to have a meal. I regretted much that impossibility on my part because, as stated, the Russian specialities listed on the menu looked very good. The staff members seem to be very kind. The lady who served me the beer at the bar was talking in Russian to another customer. I realized it was a slave language and when I asked her in Croatian what language she was speaking she answered me in a very graceful manner. Next time I go to Dresden I shall no doubt have a meal in the restaurant concerned.

This restaurant is located on the back side of Zwinger, towards the Holiday Inn.It serves excellent Ukrainian food. Very generous portions. Nice staff. Whoever is tired of Sauerbraten and the Roulade should come here. I thought that the ice cream they used for deserts was a little lower quality, but the other dishes were simply delicious. From the street the place seems perpetually sort of deserted, but don't be discouraged, it is a great opportunity to try something new. Once you come in you will notice that there are guests inside. They have a print-out of an English menu, otherwise the menu is printed in Russian and German. I communicated with the waitress in German, not sure if she knows English.
